The huge negligence of the health department is coming to light from the district hospital of Pauri, Uttarakhand. Rats gnawed on the dead body kept in the mortuary. Due to which even the relatives of the deceased could not identify the body.

The matter pertains to the district hospital of Pauri. Where rats badly gnawed the dead body from the mortuary. After getting information about the incident, the family members of the deceased expressed their displeasure. After which the family members have complained about the matter to higher authorities and demanded action against the culprits.
The employees had said that the dead body was safe in deep freeze
According to the information, the deceased’s brother Nitin Upreti said that his brother’s body was brought to Pauri District Hospital last night. The deep freeze lock was bad. Whereas when asked by the employees, they told that the dead body was safe in deep freeze. Nitin told that when he reached the mortuary today, his brother’s face was badly gnawed by rats.
CMO gave clarification
According to the information, CMO Ramesh Kumar, while giving clarification, said that due to the door of the mortuary being damaged, the rats had gnawed on the dead body. He told that the door is being repaired. So that such an incident cannot happen again. Along with this, the CMO has also ordered to keep rat poison in the mortuary.

In another shocking incident reported from Uttar Pradesh, rats gnawed on the body of a woman kept in the mortuary of a hospital in Lalitpur district. Officials said on Wednesday that the woman died by suicide. Following the incident, officials have formed a team to investigate this gruesome incident.
The woman died by suicide in her in-laws’ house
According to the district’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Imtiaz Ahmed, the woman died after allegedly hanging herself on December 2. His body was shifted to the mortuary by the police at night the same day.
Dr Ahmed said rats gnawed on the woman’s body as it appeared the body was not covered properly. According to a PTI report, the matter came to light on December 3 when the woman’s family members, police and hospital staff noticed bite marks before the autopsy.
The woman’s mother later lodged a complaint with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) alleging negligence in handling the body.

After the complaint of the victim’s mother, a three-member committee of doctors has been formed to investigate the case. The team will be led by Additional Chief Medical Officer Virendra Singh. The committee will file its report within a week,” said CMO Dr Imtiaz Ahmed.
The victim allegedly committed suicide at her in-laws’ house. Police have registered a case against the victim’s husband and in-laws following a complaint by her mother. Police say that they are investigating the matter.
