SARS CoV-2 virus is constantly changing its form
Maria Van Kerkhove also wrote in a post shared on social media that respiratory diseases are continuously increasing across the world. These include corona virus as well as rhino virus, flu, mycoplasma, pneumonia and other diseases. SARS CoV-2 is constantly changing itself. Corona’s subvariant JN.1 is also spreading. Kerkhove said there are several reasons for the spread of respiratory diseases, one of which is the current holiday season, with large numbers of people traveling.
Kerkhove said that during the winter season, most people spend time indoors. In such a situation, there is lack of ventilation, hence the risk of spreading the disease increases. Let us tell you that these days there are going to be Christmas holidays in western countries. This is the reason why there is a possibility of spread of corona or other respiratory diseases. He said that corona virus is spreading and currently 68 percent of corona cases are due to subvariant JN.1.
New variant of Corona spreading in South East Asian countries
Let us tell you that the fear of Corona has started troubling the South East Asian countries once again. Governments are beginning to worry about the rapid spread of respiratory infections due to new variants related to Covid-19. For this reason, the governments of Southeast Asia have decided to re-implement old measures to control it. People have been appealed to wear masks at the airport. Thermal scanners will be restarted to check fever. Governments are aiming to slow the spread of a number of germs, such as Covid variants, which cause flu, pneumonia and other respiratory diseases.
Citing the reason for the rapid spread of the infection, Singapore’s Health Ministry said that the increase in cases could be due to several factors. This includes declining population immunity and increased travel and community contact during year-end travel and festival seasons.
New variant of Corona responsible
Its website said that cases infected with JN.1, a variant of BA.2.86, currently account for more than 60 percent of COVID-19 cases in Singapore. While BA.2.86 and its variants have been classified by the World Health Organization as variants of interest on 21 November 2023. MOH said there is currently no indication globally or locally that BA.2.86 or JN.1 are more infectious than other Covid variants or cause more severe disease.
