Uttarakhand: CM Dhami inaugurated the state level sports Mahakumbh, CM increased enthusiasm by going among the players, Sports Minister was also present.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the state level sports Mahakumbh at Maharana Pratap Sports College Raipur, Dehradun on Tuesday. The Chief Minister went among the players who had come from all the districts of the state to participate in the state level sports Mahakumbh and encouraged them. On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced that sports kits will be provided to the players who secured first, second and third positions in the state level Sports Mahakumbh. On the occasion of the inauguration of the state level sports Mahakumbh, the Chief Minister also rewarded the players who got the first three positions in the 800 meter running event in the boys category.
The Chief Minister said that sports are important for mental, physical and social development. Sports provide an opportunity to work through teamwork. This sports Mahakumbh, organized at the state level, provides an excellent platform to the young players of Uttarakhand to showcase their talent. After playing at Panchayat level, Block level and District level, players get an opportunity to showcase their sporting talent in this Khel Mahakumbh at the state level. The objective of Khel Mahakumbh is to prepare the participating players for major sports competitions at national and international level. The Chief Minister said that the upcoming 38th National Games to be held in Uttarakhand will prove to be a milestone in the development of sports talents of Uttarakhand. Preparation of various infrastructure facilities for organizing the 38th National Games has been started. Under which the National Sports Secretariat has been formed, so that these sports can be conducted better.
The Chief Minister said that sports have been promoted rapidly in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India won a record 107 medals in the recently concluded Asian Games in China. With renewed vigor, India is ready to host the “Youth Olympics” in 2030 and the “Olympic” Games in 2036. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the sports budget has also tripled compared to before. Even in Uttarakhand, innovative experiments are being conducted for young players from villages to cities. Badminton court, basketball court and open gym are being built using the vacant space under the Haridwar flyover. The government is also trying to reintroduce sports quota in jobs for young players. To encourage talent, the state government is also going to provide direct government jobs to players who win medals at national and international levels. In the new sports policy, provision has been made for appropriate economic incentives to encourage the young players of the state.
The Chief Minister instructed the officials of the Sports Department that all preparations for the upcoming National Games should be done expeditiously. Arrangements should be made for the players, from their diet to their accommodation and every facility. In order for the state to perform well in the National Games to be held in Uttarakhand, good players should be discovered from now on and arrangements should be made for their better training. He said that with teamwork we have to take Uttarakhand forward in sports. He expressed hope that our young players participating in this Mahakumbh will bring glory to not only Uttarakhand but also the country at the international level in the future along with the National Games to be held next year.
Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Rekha Arya said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, work is being done at a rapid pace to promote sports in the state. A new sports policy has been implemented in the state. In which efforts have been made to provide every possible facility to the players. About four thousand players in the age group of 08 to 14 years are being given Chief Minister Udyam Khiladi Unnayan Sports Scholarship in the state. 2600 players aged between 14 to 23 years are being benefited in the state under the Chief Minister Udyam Khiladi Protsahan Yojana. Sports Development Fund is being created for children of economically weaker section. Girls Sports College is being built in Lohaghat of Champawat. On this occasion, MLA Umesh Sharma ‘Cow’, Special Principal Secretary Sports Amit Sinha, Sports Director Jitendra Sonkar and other officials of the Sports Department were present.
