Sports Ministry suspended the recently elected body of WFI, after the government’s decision, Sakshi and Poonia made a big statement

The Sports Ministry has dissolved the recently elected body of the Indian Wrestling Federation. In this election of WFI, Sanjay Singh, an associate of former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, was elected as the new president.

Which was opposed by wrestlers like Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia. After the protest, Sakshi Malik had announced her retirement from wrestling. In support of Malik, on Saturday some wrestlers including Bajrang Punia had talked about returning the Padma Shri award.

The Sports Ministry has canceled the wrestling association and put a stop to all the decisions taken by Sanjay Singh with immediate effect. The Sports Ministry said that all types of activities will be banned until further orders. In the instructions given regarding WFI, it has been said that it seems as if the old officials are taking all the decisions.

I don’t know whether only Sanjay Singh has been suspended or the whole group.” The organization has been suspended…Our fight was not with the government. Our fight is for women wrestlers. I have announced my retirement but want the upcoming wrestlers to get justice.”
