Bail plea of Amritpal’s associates rejected, HC said – Taking law into one’s own hands on the strength of mob is unacceptable

The Punjab-Haryana High Court, while rejecting the bail plea of Shiv Kumar and Bhupinder Singh, accused of attack on Ajnala police station and associates of Amritpal, said that interference in the administration of justice by any citizen on the strength of the mob and taking the law into their own hands is completely unacceptable. Kind of unacceptable. The court said that the allegations are very serious and in such a situation, bail cannot be granted to the petitioners by accepting their plea that they have been in custody for eight months.
While filing the petition, Ajaypal Singh alias Shiv Kumar and Balwinder Singh alias Sheru told the High Court that they were not even in Ajnala on the day of the incident for which FIR has been registered against them. He was named on the basis of the statement of another accused without considering these facts. Also, there has been an inordinate delay in filing the FIR, as the incident took place on February 23 at 2 pm and the FIR was filed on February 24 at 9:50 pm. The petitioner’s counsel also argued that both were not present in any photograph or video of the Punjab Police.
Order to complete investigation soon
The Punjab government told the High Court that both of them had claimed to be associates of Amritpal Singh, who had given inflammatory statements to mislead the youth of Punjab. It also justified the assassination of the Chief Minister through a human bomb like Dilawar Singh. Along with this, reference was also made to the weapons and related materials recovered from the petitioners.
After hearing all the parties, the High Court has ordered to reject his bail plea. The court said that considering the seriousness of the crimes, the petitioner cannot be released on bail merely on the basis that he has been in jail for eight months. Also directed the investigating agency to complete the investigation as soon as possible so that the lower court can conclude the case as soon as possible.
