Corona JN.1 variant cases cross 500 in India, highest number of cases in this state

The sound of Corona virus, which caused havoc in the country and the world a few years ago, has again created fear among the people. This time Corona has come with a new variant which is being called JN.1. In the last few days, cases of infection with this variant have been seen in various states of the country. According to the latest data, the total number of infections due to JN.1 variant of Corona in the country has now crossed 500. Highest number of cases in Karnataka

According to ANI, as of January 2, a total of 511 cases of JN.1 variant have been reported from 11 states in India. Of these, maximum 199 cases have been reported from Karnataka. Apart from this, 148 cases have been found from Kerala, 47 from Goa, 36 from Gujarat, 32 from Maharashtra, 26 from Tamil Nadu, 15 from Delhi, 4 from Rajasthan, 2 from Telangana, 1 from Odisha and 1 from Haryana.

602 new cases 5 deaths

According to the data released by the Health Ministry on January 3, 2024, a total of 602 new cases of corona infection have been registered in the country in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of active patients in the country has reached 4,440. A total of 5 people have lost their lives due to Covid in the last 24 hours. Of the deaths, 2 are from Kerala, 1 from Karnataka, 1 from Punjab and 1 from Tamil Nadu.

What are the symptoms of JN.1?

Former member of Maharashtra Taskforce, Dr. Rahul Pandit has told that the JN.1 variant has not come suddenly. Its infection has been happening in foreign countries since the month of August. He told that currently the new virus is a sub-variant of Omicron and its symptoms are similar to the old virus. This includes cold, cough, fever and diarrhea etc. He said that the mutation of this virus occurs in the protein spike.
