Shubman Gill received ‘Cricketer of the Year 2024’ award, 19 children honored with ‘Bal Puraskar 2024’

BCCI honored Indian cricketer Shubhman Gill with the ‘Cricketer of the Year 2024’ award. The Home Ministry announced the award of ‘Subhash Chandra Bose Disaster Management Award 2024’ to 60 Parachute Field Hospitals located in Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, the second edition of the ‘Cyclone’ exercise started between the Indian and Egyptian armies.

1. BCCI honored Shubman Gill and Ravi Shastri: On January 23, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) organized the award ceremony in Hyderabad. In this award ceremony, BCCI has honored Indian cricketer Shubman Gill with the ‘Cricketer of the Year 2024’ award.

  • Shubman scored 5 centuries in ODI cricket last year and became the fastest player to score 2000 runs in One Day International cricket.
  • Former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri was honored with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’.
  • Ravi Shastri has played 80 Test and 150 ODI international cricket.
  • After retirement, 61-year-old Ravi Shastri became the coach of Team India twice.
  • He was associated with the national team as team director from 2014 to 2016.
  • He played the role of head coach in the T20 World Cup from 2017 to 2021.
  • Under the guidance of Ravi Shastri, India won two consecutive Test series in Australia.
  • With Shastri as the coach, India also reached the final of the World Test Championship, but lost to New Zealand.
  • Apart from this, under his coaching, India also reached the semi-finals of the 2019 ODI World Cup.
  • BCCI has honored the players after four years, before this it had given awards in the year 2019.

2. Avneesh from Madhya Pradesh received the Children’s Award: ‘Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award 2024’ ceremony was organized on 22 January at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. In this ceremony, President Draupadi Murmu honored Master Avnish Tiwari of Madhya Pradesh with the Children’s Award.

  • 9 year old Avneesh, resident of Indore, has received this award for his better performance in social service.
  • Master Avneesh is a special child affected by Downs Syndrome.
  • He has successfully trekked to the base camp of Mount Everest at the age of 7.
  • He is the youngest person to receive the Shrestha Divyang Balak Award in the year 2022.
  • Apart from Avneesh, 18 children were also honored with children’s awards in this ceremony.
  • These include 9 boys and 10 girls, who are from 18 states and union territories.
  • This award is given to children for exceptional abilities and better achievements.
  • This national level award is given to children in the age group of 5 to 18 years in seven categories like bravery, art and culture, environment, innovation, science and technology, social work and sports.

3. Subhash Chandra Bose Disaster Management Award 2024: On January 23, the Union Home Ministry has announced to give ‘Subhash Chandra Bose Disaster Management Award 2024’ to 60 Parachute Field Hospital located in Uttar Pradesh. 60 Parachute Field Hospitals have been selected for the Institutional category.

  • In the year 1942, 60 Parachute Field Hospital was established.
    It is the only air medical institute of the Indian Armed Forces, which provides medical facilities in times of emergency.
  • This award is announced every year on 23 January, the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
  • Online nominations for the award for the year 2024 were invited from July 1, 2023.
  • In case of an institution, Rs 51 lakh in cash and a certificate is given.
  • In case of an individual, Rs 5 lakh in cash and a certificate is given as prize.
