Uttarakhand: Manveer Chauhan called Congress’s reaction on UCC irrational and misleading

BJP’s state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan has termed the reaction of Congress leaders regarding UCC as irrational and misleading. He retorted that those who talked about the unconstitutionality of making the draft public before the House do not have confidence in the ability of their MLAs in the House. If we talk about legal initiative from the Centre, they should happily welcome the initiative of Devbhoomi.
Answering the media’s questions regarding the opposition’s statements regarding UCC, Chauhan has said that the BJP is moving forward on this law while respecting the Indian culture, the thinking of the Constitution makers and the public sentiments. But Congress and its alliance have always opposed efforts to bring uniformity in the country through a uniform law. It is due to the pressure on them that those who till yesterday openly called it a conspiracy to break the country are not able to muster the courage to protest publicly today.
However, even today, under the policy of appeasement, former CM Harish Rawat is giving the fallacy of making public the draft presented in the House, while everyone knows that the session has been called and it is constitutional to keep the draft in it only. As far as logical suggestions are concerned, there has been enough discussion among the public in the last one and a half years and Congress did not consider it necessary to participate in it. He said that discussing it outside the House reflected their fear. It is clear that they do not trust the reasoning ability of their MLAs.
Chauhan said that many senior Congress leaders are asking baseless questions as to why the law is not being made from the Centre. Whereas they are not in favor of UCC. If they want UCC then they should be happy that Devbhoomi is going to be the first state to do so. But the public is confident that BJP abolished triple talaq, removed Article 370 from Kashmir and BJP will also bring UCC. But it has become clear from the comments of Congress that they had opposed UCC earlier also and are opposing it even now.
