‘Dead’ woman in Odisha becomes alive minutes before funeral, brought back home from crematorium
A woman, who was assumed dead in a house fire, came alive moments before the pyre was lit at the cremation ground. The family said on Tuesday that the incident took place in Behrampur town in the southern district of Ganjam. The family members of the 52-year-old woman, a resident of Goods Shed Road, said that a few hours after returning from the cremation ground on Monday evening, she (the woman) was admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital.

According to family members, the woman was admitted to the same hospital after suffering 50 percent burn injuries in a house fire incident on February 1. The woman is from a poor family. However, when hospital authorities referred her to another medical facility, her husband took her home due to lack of funds, family sources said. Since then she was fighting for her life. Sibaram Pallo, the woman’s husband, said, “On Monday, she was not opening her eyes and it seemed like she was not breathing. We thought she was dead and then we informed other people in the area.”
People said ‘miracle’
Without consulting any doctor or attempting to obtain a death certificate, he took the “body” to the nearby Bijipur crematorium in a Behrampur Municipal Corporation hearse van. Palo’s neighbor K, who went to the cremation ground with family members. Chiranjibi said, “Chita was almost ready when she suddenly opened her eyes. At first we were shocked but when we talked to him he responded. It is a miracle.” After this, first he brought him home and then admitted him to the hospital.
