In the marathon meeting held between the Central Government and farmer leaders to stop the march of farmers to Delhi, the issue of guaranteeing the minimum support price for crops has come to a standstill. All the borders adjacent to Delhi have been sealed. On the farmers’ protest, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that new demands have been put forward, which the states need time to discuss. Therefore, farmer leaders are requested to come and discuss.
After all, what happened that new demands are being made?
Anurag Thakur said that, I want to say that the Modi government has taken many steps in the last 10 years to encourage the agriculture sector and the welfare of farmers. When they put forth their demands, the government sent its senior leaders and negotiations continued. A meeting was held in Chandigarh yesterday. During this time the farmer leaders got up and left, while we kept saying that let’s discuss. He said, what happened that new demands are being made? If new demands are being made then more time is needed. States need time to discuss. We are ready to continue the discussion.
Do not engage in violence
The Union Minister said, most of their demands have been accepted but more time is needed to discuss many demands. I request the agitators not to indulge in vandalism, arson or violence. I request the farmer leaders to come and discuss. Let us tell you, farmers will again continue moving towards Delhi today.
