The world of flowers will be decorated in Uttarakhand Raj Bhavan from March 1, police department will participate for the first time

A world of flowers will be decorated at Raj Bhavan on the occasion of Spring Festival from March 1 to March 3. For the first time, the police department will also participate in it. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Seni) said, Thuner has been selected for the special postal cover this year.

The Governor said, the flowers of the state have a distinct identity, there are many possibilities in the field of flower production, which can prove to be a boon for Uttarakhand. Said, we will have to make special efforts to link flowers with commercial activities, and also there is a need to distribute the flowers from here not only to the nearby areas, but also to the country and internationally.

Said, efforts should be made to make Uttarakhand a flower state. Told that earlier there were 200 species of plants in the Bonsai Garden located in the Raj Bhavan complex, which has now increased to more than 600. Last year, 2.5 lakh people had reached Vasanthotsav. Horticulture Director Deepti Singh said, this year people from Uttarakhand as well as other states of the country will come to the Vasantotsav.
Told that there are a total of 53 sub-categories in the category of 15 main competitions in Vasantotsav, in which first, second and third prizes will be given. Thus, a total of 159 awards will be given to the winners on March 3, 2024 after the decision of the jury. On this occasion, Secretary to Governor Ravinath Raman, Secretary Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Vinod Kumar Suman, Additional Secretary to Governor Swati S Bhadauria, Joint Director Information Dr. Nitin Upadhyay were present.

Thuner selected as special postal cover
Thuner has been selected as the special postal cover this year, which will be released by the Governor. Due to the medicinal properties present in Thuner, it is used in the treatment of many diseases.

Postal stamp exhibition will also be organized
Many paintings will be displayed in the Raj Bhavan Auditorium Gallery through the Art Gallery. This year, arrangements will also be made for the general public to visit the exhibition, Nakshatra Vatika, Bonsai Garden and Shankar Ji Temple of Raj Bhavan.

35 departments will participate
About 35 departments of the state will participate in the event. Along with the Horticulture Department, various research institutes, agricultural universities, boards, corporations etc. will be prominent.

There will be a one hour cultural evening every day
On behalf of the Culture Department, a one-hour cultural evening will be organized in the evening on all three days of Vasantotsav-2024, in which songs in local languages, folk dances and other programs will be presented by local artists as well as renowned artists associated with the state.

Vehicles decorated with flowers will spread publicity
This year, Vasanthotsav will be promoted in Dehradun city with a vehicle decorated with flowers. The Governor will flag off the vehicle from Raj Bhavan on 29th February. Vasanthotsav will be inaugurated on March 1 at 11 am. The flower exhibition will be open free to the public on March 1 from 1 pm to 6 pm and on March 2 and 3 from 9 am to 6 pm.
