National Minority Commission team reached Haldwani, visited Banbhulpura, violence affected areas
National Minorities Commission Chairman Iqbal Singh Lalpuria reached Haldwani with a two-member team. During this, he along with his team visited the riot affected area of Banbhulpura of Haldwani. Also met the people in Banbhulpura area and inquired about their well-being. After this, the Chairman of the Commission reached Circuit House Kathgodam and held a meeting with the higher officials of the district. In which he also took detailed information about this entire incident from the officials.
Along with DM SSP, many officers were present in the meeting. He told that his team will visit Banbhulpura area and hold meetings with the people and also talk to them. Will get detailed information about the entire incident.
It is worth noting that on February 8, there was stone pelting, arson and then violence during the removal of encroachment on the Madrasa and Namaz place built on government land in Malik’s garden in Banbhulpura. In which Banbhulpura police station was set on fire. A huge amount of government and private property was also damaged in the violence. So far five people have died in this incident. Hundreds of people are injured.
Curfew was imposed in Banbhulpura after some violence on 8th February. The district administration lifted the curfew 10 days after it became normal. At present the situation in Banbhulpura area remains normal. Paramilitary forces and Uttarakhand Police personnel are present and the district administration is also taking stock of the situation from time to time to ensure that no untoward incident happens again.
