Israel Hamas War: Israeli attack on refugee tent near hospital in Rafah, 11 killed; Blood soaked bodies lying on the streets
The Israel-Hamas war that started last year is showing no sign of stopping. On Saturday, Israel attacked refugee tents of displaced civilians near a hospital in the southern city of Rafah. About 11 people died and dozens were injured. The Health Ministry in Gaza said that the attack took place near the Emirati hospital.
Amidst this attack, the Israeli army claimed that the attack was carried out precisely targeting the terrorists of the Islamic Jihad group in the area of the hospital. World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed his concern about this attack on the social media platform
Gaza health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said in a statement that a paramedic was among those killed in the blast near an Emirati maternity hospital and children were injured. Qudra said 11 civilians were martyred and about 50, including children, were injured as a result of Israeli forces targeting tents of displaced people near an Emirati hospital.
Blood soaked bodies lying on the streets
Blood-soaked bodies were visible on the streets and crowds had gathered, according to footage posted on social media. People were also taking the injured for treatment. Wounded people were seen being taken on stretchers to a Kuwaiti hospital in Rafah.
The Israeli military confirmed that the attack occurred near the hospital area. The army said in a statement that the strike was carried out with precision against Islamic Jihad militants and that there was no damage to the hospital in the area.
1.5 million Palestinians sought refuge in Rafah
Israel has repeatedly accused Hamas militants of using hospitals for military purposes, but the Palestinian group denies this. An estimated 1.5 million Palestinians have sought refuge in Rafah, raising fears that there would be mass casualties if Israel launches a planned ground offensive on the city.
Israel’s retaliatory military campaign against Hamas has killed at least 30,320 people, mostly women and children, according to Gaza’s health ministry.
