Blood soaked bodies lying on the streets

Blood-soaked bodies were visible on the streets and crowds had gathered, according to footage posted on social media. People were also taking the injured for treatment. Wounded people were seen being taken on stretchers to a Kuwaiti hospital in Rafah.

The Israeli military confirmed that the attack occurred near the hospital area. The army said in a statement that the strike was carried out with precision against Islamic Jihad militants and that there was no damage to the hospital in the area.

1.5 million Palestinians sought refuge in Rafah

Israel has repeatedly accused Hamas militants of using hospitals for military purposes, but the Palestinian group denies this. An estimated 1.5 million Palestinians have sought refuge in Rafah, raising fears that there would be mass casualties if Israel launches a planned ground offensive on the city.
