Suspense in Congress regarding high profile seats of Uttarakhand, the matter will be resolved only with Rahul’s presence

The announcement of Congress candidates for Haridwar and Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar seats has now been postponed for a few days. The party leadership is having to struggle to select candidates for both the seats. The names of the candidates will be approved only in the presence of former Congress National President Rahul Gandhi. Candidates can be declared on 18 or 19 March.

Congress is assessing its chances better on these two seats of Uttarakhand. BJP has declared candidates on all five seats in the state. In such a situation, pressure on the main opposition party has also increased in this matter. Along with caste mathematics, the party is also pinning its hopes on Muslim voters.

Ticket equations complicated

Efforts are being made to field strong candidates on the seats of Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar. In such a situation, the ticket equations have also become complicated due to the claims of many leaders within the party. In view of the tough fight on Haridwar seat, emphasis is being laid on making former Chief Minister Harish Rawat the candidate. However, Harish Rawat himself is advocating the ticket for his son Virendra Rawat.

Harish Rawat is in Delhi

At present Harish Rawat is in Delhi only. The meeting of State Congress President Karan Mahara, Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya and Harish Rawat with party’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge and other top leaders in Delhi on Friday has been postponed.

The final decision will be taken in the presence of Rahul Gandhi

It is being told that now this meeting will take place only after the concluding program of Rahul Gandhi’s Nyaya Yatra in Mumbai. Rahul will also be present in the meeting to decide on the candidates for two seats in the state. There is more focus on solving local equations in candidate selection for Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar seat.
