Huge quantity of explosives seized in Saharanpur, was going to Delhi
Fatehpur police station has seized a huge quantity of illegal explosive substance with the arrest of four people including two minors in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The value of the seized explosive is said to be Rs 8 lakh. The accused have been identified as Afnan (22), Suhail (18), Arshad (17) and Shahzad (16).
Deputy Superintendent of Police Ruchi Gupta said on Monday that information about purchase and sale of explosive material was received and a checking operation was conducted near Chamarikheda post. Meanwhile, when the police team signaled the Mahindra pickup vehicle coming towards Biharigarh to stop, the driver tried to drive away, but the police laid siege and caught four people including two minors.
Explosives were going to Delhi for supply
He said that upon investigation, 55,800 firecrackers, one drum of Cillimate chemical, 13.500 kg of crushed coal and other materials were seized. Their estimated price is around Rs 8 lakh. When the driver was asked for the license related to the recovered firecrackers, he could not show the valid document. During police interrogation, he revealed that he along with his associates was taking illegally manufactured firecrackers from Kurdikheda village of Saharanpur for supply to Shahdara area of Delhi.
