Saint Shri Shivshankar Chaitanya Bharti passes away, PM Modi and CM Yogi expressed grief

Swami Shivshankar Chaitanya Bharti, an ardent devotee of Lord Vishwanath, an exclusive seeker of Srikashi Vishwanath, a supremely virtuous ascetic, a great scholar, a devotee of Brahmanishtha Shiva, has passed away. PM Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath have expressed grief over his demise. He breathed his last at 2 pm at Sri Ramakrishna Mission Hospital. He was more than a hundred years old.

PM Modi wrote on X, the sad news of the great sacrifice of Saint Shri Shivshankar Chaitanya Bharti ji, a great devotee of Lord Vishwanath, was received from Kashi. He was continuously present in Mangala Aarti in the service of Baba Vishwanath. His departure is a great loss to the Sancha tradition of Tashi. CM Yogi paid tribute

Whereas CM Yogi wrote on Twitter, the demise of revered saint and sage of Kashi, revered Swamiji Shivshankar Chaitanya Bharti Ji Maharaj, is a moment of irreparable loss and immense sorrow for the saint society and the spiritual world. His death has marked the end of an era. My humble tribute to him. Baba Vishwanath is requested to grant the divine soul a place in his supreme abode and his disciples and followers the strength to bear this sorrow. Om Shanti!’

Swami, who was in solitary confinement on the third floor of Raj Rajeshwari Math, Lalita Ghat, had become infirm for some days, but his sadhana and worship continued. He was originally a resident of Rajasthan. In his youth, he took initiation into Sanyas from Swami Shankar Chaitanya Bharti and started traveling to Kashi. There was no other scholar of Sanskrit and oriental knowledge and a great ascetic like him. The people of Kashi considered him to be the embodiment of Shiva. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences on the demise of Swami Shankar Chaitanya Bharati.
