After the rain in Uttarakhand, forests started burning again, so many new cases of forest fire came to light
Amidst the noise of Chardham Yatra 2024 in Uttarakhand, perhaps the discussion about the fire in the mountains has been lost somewhere. After the recent rains in Uttarakhand, it was hoped that the valleys of Uttarakhand would get relief from the fire raging in the mountains, but this did not happen, because after remaining calm for four days, the forest fire broke out again.
In Uttarakhand, cases of forest fire have started coming up again in Kumaon and Garhwal. According to the data received from the Forest Department, 1075 incidents have been recorded in the state from November 1, 2023 to May 16, 2024, in which 14051.348 hectares of forests have been affected so far.
The surprising thing is that after the rains, incidents of fire in the forests of Uttarakhand have started coming to light again. On May 16, seven cases of forest fire have been reported in Uttarakhand, in which about 8.2 hectares of forest area has been affected. The cases of forest fire on May 16 are from Lansdowne Forest Division of Mussoorie and Pauri as well as Terai Eastern Forest Region. Amidst all this, the matter of relief is that no case of vanangi has come to light on the Chardham Yatra route. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is continuously giving instructions to the officials regarding Char Dham as well as forest fire.
Five people have died due to forest fire in Uttarakhand this year. Recently, a hearing was also held in the Supreme Court in the Uttarakhand forest fire case. The Supreme Court has ordered the Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand to appear in person during the fire incident and its hearing.
