Indian Army gets a new chief, Upendra Dwivedi will be the next Army Chief

After the formation of the new government in India, the Indian Army has got a new chief. The central government has appointed Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi as the new chief of the Indian Army. Upendra Dwivedi will take command of the Indian Army from the afternoon of June 30. Currently, the Chief of Army Staff of India is Manoj Pandey. His tenure is ending on June 30.

Let us tell you that Lieutenant General Upendra PVSM, AVSM is currently working as the Deputy Chief of the Indian Army. After the retirement of the current Army Chief General Manoj Pandey PVSM, AVSM, VSM on June 30, Upendra Dwivedi will replace him. Upendra Dwivedi has been awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and three GOC-in-C Commendation Cards.

Where did he serve?

Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi was born on 1 July 1964. He was appointed in the Infantry of the Indian Army on December 15, 1984. He has served in various command, staff, instructional and foreign appointments for nearly 40 years. Upendra Dwivedi has served in regiments, brigades, DIG Assam Rifles and 9 Corps. Before being appointed as the Deputy Chief of the Army, Upendra Dwivedi has served in important positions including Director General Infantry and General Officer Commanding in Chief from 2022-2024.

Education of Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi

Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi is an alumnus of Sainik School Rewa, National Defense College and US Army War College. He has also studied at DSSC Wellington and Army War College, Mhow. Upendra Dwivedi has an M Phil in Defense and Management and two master’s degrees in Strategic Studies and Military Science.
