Dehradun Smart City has once again come into the discussions. In fact, the tenure of Smart City has been extended once again. After which the Congress has raised the issue of the alleged scam in Smart City and demanded a CBI inquiry into the work done so far. However, even before this, the works of Smart City have been in controversies. And now once again the political debate has intensified on this.
CBI inquiry should be done on the works of Smart City
Controversy over the works of Dehradun Smart City is not a new thing. From the MLAs of the ruling party to the ministers in the government, have been expressing displeasure over its works. On the other hand, the opposition has also been saying that there is a big scam in the works of Smart City. Once again, Congress leader Suryakant Dhasmana has demanded a CBI inquiry into it, saying that there is a big irregularity in the works of Smart City. The special thing is that recently the tenure of Smart City was extended till March 2025. Whereas even before this, its tenure has been extended from time to time.
Most of the work of Smart City has been completed
Like the rest of the country, the work of Dehradun Smart City was started in 2017 and was to be completed by 2021. But due to its continuous controversies and the slow pace of construction agencies, its work has not been completed yet. The big thing is that on one hand there are allegations of negligence in the work.
On the other hand, serious allegations of scam are also putting Smart City in the dock. However, CEO of Smart City Dehradun, Sonika Meena says that most of the work of Smart City has been completed and now only one or two works are left to be done.
