Uttarakhand: 16 police posts will be opened on China-Nepal border, proposal sent to the government; Security arrangements will be strengthened

The police department is going to tighten the security system to prevent infiltration from China and Nepal bordering Uttarakhand. Under the scheme, the department is soon going to open 16 police posts in the border areas of five development blocks of Pithoragarh, Chamoli and Uttarkashi, Munsiyari, Dharchula, Kanalichhina, Joshimath and Bhatwadi. For this, a proposal has been sent to the government by the Police Headquarters. As soon as the proposal is passed, the department will start working in this direction.

Migration is happening in border villages

Many border villages of three border districts of Uttarakhand, Pithoragarh, Chamoli and Uttarkashi are still facing the problem of migration. In such a situation, there is a possibility of infiltration here. In view of this, the central government is going to increase the facilities here by including 51 border villages in the Vibrant Village Scheme.

Economic reforms-livelihood development, home and rural infrastructure, revival of ecosystem, road connectivity and skill development etc. are to be done in these villages. The plan is to provide the youth living in these villages with means of livelihood nearby, so that migration can be stopped and reverse migration can take place.

Timely information will be received about suspicious activities happening on the border

The purpose of opening police posts on the China and Nepal border is to exchange information. Police personnel in these police posts will be equipped with wireless and repeater sets. A total of 658 kilometers of border touches China and Nepal in the three border districts of Uttarakhand, Pithoragarh, Chamoli and Uttarkashi.

Due to rapid migration in the border districts, the danger of infiltration remains at all times. The central government plans that if migration is stopped on the border, the danger of infiltration can be reduced.
