Uttarakhand: Lifetime earnings of 1500 people disappeared from their accounts, postmaster made them bankrupt

A case of fraud of crores has come to light from Bageshwar in Uttarakhand. Money is missing from the accounts of more than 1500 people in Simgarhi sub-post office. This was revealed when the account holders checked their passbooks online. After the fraud was discovered, there was a stir in the village. The villagers have informed the police about this.

Lifelong earnings disappeared from the accounts of 1500 people

According to the villagers, about two crores have been embezzled in this scam. The scam came to light when the postmaster of Simgarhi sub-post office also absconded. When the troubled villagers checked their passbooks online, they found that the lakhs of rupees deposited in their accounts were missing. The villagers say that lakhs of rupees were deposited in their accounts. Which is now showing zero balance.

Villagers protested when passbooks were deposited

On receiving the information, the police team and the postal department team reached the spot. When the police asked the villagers to deposit the passbooks, the villagers started protesting against it. The villagers say that the only proof they have is their passbook. If they hand that over to the police, they will feel completely cheated.

Investigation of the case is ongoing

Regarding the case, Chief Postal Superintendent Rajesh Binwal says that the case is being investigated. Strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty. However, the villagers are demanding a CBI investigation. After the incident, the villagers have lost faith in the post office system.
