Uttarakhand: Doctors and staff will be on alert in the hospital during Diwali in Dehradun, separate beds will be kept safe
On the day of Diwali, instructions were given to remain alert in the emergency of Doon Medical College Hospital to deal with any untoward incident. Incidents of burns due to fireworks often increase during Diwali festival, keeping this in mind, the hospital administration has assigned duty to all specialist doctors as per roster. All specialist doctors and staff of the hospital have been asked to remain alert 24 hours.
Plastic surgeons have also been assigned duty in case of burn cases. Deputy Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Dhananjay Dobhal says that this time the hospital is in a better condition than last time, because recently a plastic surgeon has joined the hospital. Five bed ICU and seven bed non ICU are being run under him. He told that on the day of Diwali, duties are being assigned to eye specialist, dermatologist, plastic surgeon, general surgeon, orthopedic surgeon as per roster.
Dr. Dhananjay told that in view of the incidents of burns due to fireworks, the emergency department has been asked to keep medicines in sufficient quantity. Apart from this, adequate arrangements have been made in the burn ward and ICU to deal with any situation. Along with this, all the doctors have been told not to send any patient without first aid. The Doon Hospital administration has requested the district hospital that only limited patients can be treated in the emergency of Doon Hospital. In such a situation, the district hospital should handle burn cases on the day of Diwali, so that there is no pressure of patients in Doon Hospital.
