Uttarakhand / Dehradun: Drug addiction landed him in jail, Police arrested a cunning thief
Dehradun Police has arrested the culprit who carried out the thefts in closed shops in the Kotwali area. Police has recovered stolen cash and other items from the possession of the accused.
Two different shops were robbed late at night in the Kotwali area
According to the police, Manoj Kumar Goyal, resident of Dehradun, had given a complaint on December 5. In which he had told that he has a shop in Paltan Bazaar. Late at night, unknown miscreants broke the shutter of his shop and stole wedding items, necklaces and cash kept in the shop. Police registered a case against the unknown and started investigating the matter.
The second incident is from Machhi Bazaar. Naushad had given a complaint regarding the matter. In which he told that late at night on the same day, unknown people broke the lock of the shutter of his clothes shop located in Machhi Bazaar and stole cash, groom’s sherwani and 10-12 coat-pant sets from the shop. Police registered a case and started efforts to nab the unknown accused.
The crime was committed to fulfill his drug addiction
The police started scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed around the crime scene and on the roads leading to it. On the information of an informer, the police arrested Shadab (23) resident of Raipur with stolen goods from the bushes in the ruins behind Janpath Complex on Chakrata Road on Saturday.
During interrogation, the accused told that he is a drug addict and committed the theft to fulfill his drug needs. This time the accused was trying to pay off his debt and fulfill his drug needs by selling the stolen goods. Shadab has already gone to jail in different incidents of theft from Raipur.
