Uttarakhand: Campaign against obesity begins in government departments, CM makes Additional Chief Secretary the nodal officer

Dehradun On the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government will start the campaign against obesity from government departments. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has appointed Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan as the nodal officer for this campaign. He has directed the ACS to prepare a detailed action plan of the campaign in coordination with all the departments.
During the meeting at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister directed the officials to run the ‘Fit Uttarakhand’ campaign on a large scale in the state. He said that the main objective of the Fit Uttarakhand campaign is to make the citizens of the state aware of health, hygiene and fitness, so that they can adopt a healthy lifestyle. Educational institutions, government and non-governmental organizations will also be included in this campaign so that more and more people can benefit from it.

He directed that yoga, exercise and health awareness campaigns should be promoted under the Fit Uttarakhand campaign. Also, sports activities should be encouraged in schools and colleges so that the younger generation can remain more physically active and healthy.

He emphasized that people should pay special attention to their food habits and should develop the habit of reducing the use of oil in food.
