It is just a matter of time and Katra to Delhi will be just a 6-hour journey by road. The 9-hour journey from Jammu to Srinagar will be completed in 3 hours. The highway starting from Indore will take you straight to Hyderabad. And in the next 2 years, about 25 thousand kilometers of roads will be seen converted from 2 to 4 lanes. On Thursday, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari presented the country’s ‘road-map’ while answering questions during the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha. During this, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP from Parbhani Sanjay Haribhau Jadhav, impressed by Gadkari’s work, was seen giving him the title of Maharashtra’s Anmol Ratan. Know what roadmap Gadkari presented in the Parliament…
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP from Parbhani Sanjay Haribhau Jadhav said in the Lok Sabha that if the road from Parbhani to Nanded, Narsi, Devnur is made six lane to go from Tirupati Balaji to Hyderabad, then it will be very convenient for the people of Marathwada and Vidarbha. He asked whether a road will be built from Sambhajinagar to Pune and Parbhani to Pune?
Gadkari’s answer: The road from Pune to Aurangabad (Sambhajinagar) is very important. It connects West Maharashtra and Marathwada. Pune is an important city. The whole of Maharashtra has a relation with Pune just like Mumbai. We have found a way for this place. A new green alignment has been prepared from Pune to Sambhajinagar. A new highway worth 15 thousand crores will be built from Pune to Sambhajinagar. Its alignment is ready. The government will not spend a single rupee on it. This will make the journey from Pune to Sambhajinagar in two hours instead of six hours. Gadkari told that a highway from Indore to Hyderabad is being built. Work on it has started. This highway will come till Nanded. After Nanded, it will take till Hyderabad. He said that there is a highway between Parbhani and Nanded. If the traffic increases in it, then its expansion will be considered.
Question: Shaktipeeth road is being built in Maharashtra. Many farmers’ lands are going into it. Farmers will come on the road. Will it be cancelled?
Gadkari’s answer: Shaktipeeth road is not being built by the Government of India. This project is of the Maharashtra government. It is in the hands of the Maharashtra government to build it or not.
Question: Baramulla MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh asked whether Kupwara-Karna road and Bandipora-Gurez road will be given the status of national highway.
Gadkari: Gadkari said that the Modi government has focused on Uttarakhand, Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir and the states of the Northeast which have lagged behind in infrastructure. Work worth 2 lakh crores is being done in Jammu and Kashmir alone. 105 tunnels are being built. Asia’s largest Zojila tunnel which was to be built in 12 thousand crores is being built in 5.5 thousand crores. 70 percent of its work has been completed. BRO has also been given a lot of work in Kashmir. NHIDCL has been created on the lines of NHI for Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal, Jammu Kashmir and Northeast states. Work is going on for 105 tunnels in Jammu Kashmir. Work is going on on 36 tunnels from Jammu to Srinagar alone. 22 have been completed. It used to take 9 hours to reach Srinagar from Jammu, which will now take 3.5 hours. You will be able to reach Delhi from Katra directly in 6 hours.
Making a big announcement, Gadkari said that in the next 2 years, 25 thousand kilometers of roads worth 10 lakh crores will be converted from two lanes to four lanes. Standards have been changed for this. He said, ‘Right now work is going on to convert 16 thousand kilometers of roads from two lanes to four lanes at a cost of 6 lakh crores.’
