It has been more than three years since the war between Russia and Ukraine. Meanwhile, on Thursday, Russia launched a major attack on Ukraine with missiles and drones. After this attack, US President Donald Trump appealed to Russian President Putin to stop the attack on Kiev. On Thursday, Russia carried out one of the deadliest attacks on Kiev so far. After this, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “I am not happy with Russia’s attacks on Kiev. It was not necessary and its timing was also very bad. Vladimir, stop! 5000 soldiers are dying every week. Let’s make a peace deal!’ Trump also claimed that Russia’s ‘not occupying the whole of Ukraine’ is a ‘big concession’ from Russia.

Russia’s attack killed 12 people and injured 90 in Kiev, which has deepened the war. Early Thursday morning, Russia attacked Kiev with 70 missiles and 145 drones, which was the deadliest attack since July 2024. According to Ukraine’s emergency services, there was damage in 13 places, including residential buildings and civilian structures. People are trapped under the rubble of a house in the Sviatoshin district, and rescue operations are underway. Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said, ‘We are removing the rubble by hand, because there may be people underneath.’

Peace proposal setback to Ukraine

Trump administration presented a peace proposal in Paris, which asks Ukraine to make a big sacrifice. It says that Crimea will be considered part of Russia and Ukraine will have to hand over large areas to Russia. Vice President JD Vance said, ‘The borders should be frozen in the current situation.’ Trump said on Thursday that Russia’s ‘stopping the war’ and ‘not taking the whole of Ukraine’ is a big deal. But Zelensky rejected it, because it is against the Constitution of Ukraine.

Europe and Asia’s concern

America’s allies are worried about Trump’s proposal. According to a CNN report, a European diplomat said, ‘If Ukraine is forced to give up its land, no country in Europe or the world will be safe, whether it is in NATO or not.’ He called it a violation of the principles of international law. Asian allies are worried, especially about China. An Asian diplomat said, ‘China is watching. If Russia gets a reward for its violence, it will be a dangerous message.’ European officials will not accept this proposal, which could isolate America. French President Emmanuel Macron condemned Russia’s attacks and said, ‘Putin is lying. He talks about peace, but drops bombs.’
