In which the Panchayat election reservation rotation process has been challenged. In which the High Court has sought a reply from the state government. For which time till Monday was fixed.

After the announcement of the dates of Panchayat elections, petitioner Murari Lal said that the government itself had asked for time till June 24. Tehri resident Murari Lal Khandwal and others filed a petition in the High Court saying that the government issued an order on June 9, 2025 and made a new rule for the Panchayat elections. Also, by issuing an order on June 11, declaring the reservation rotation applicable for Panchayat elections till now as void, it was decided to implement a new rotation from this year.

The High Court has already given guidelines in this matter. According to the petitioner, with this order, the seat which was in the reserved category for the last three terms has been reserved for the fourth time as well. Due to which they are not able to participate in the Panchayat elections. In this case, the government said that some similar cases are also filed in the single bench.

The petitioner’s lawyer said that he has also challenged the rules issued on June 9 in the division bench. Only the order of June 11, which mentions the implementation of reservation afresh, has been challenged before the single bench. The court has sought a reply from the government in this matter. Even before that, the dates for panchayat elections in Uttarakhand have been announced.
