‘Some countries are able to bully only because…’, what did Union Minister Nitin Gadkari say on Trump tariff?

America has announced to impose an additional 25 percent tariff on India. After this decision of Trump, there has been tension in the trade relations between India and America. Meanwhile, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has put forth his point on the issue of tariff.

He said during a program that the countries that are bullying in today’s world are able to do so because they are financially strong and have technology. Let us tell you what else Gadkari said?

‘India will have to reduce import dependence’

In fact, speaking at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) in Maharashtra on Saturday, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that there is a need to increase India’s exports and reduce imports.

The Union Minister said that if the rate of our exports and economy increases, then I do not think we will need to go to anyone. Those who are bullying are doing so because they are financially strong and have technology. If we get better technology and resources, we will not bully anyone, because our culture teaches us that world welfare is most important.

‘Technology is very important for solving all problems’

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said during this time that we are facing various problems at the global level and the solution to all these problems is science and technology, i.e. knowledge, which is a power. He further said that if India has to become a world leader, then it is necessary to increase exports and reduce imports.

The Union Minister said that research institutes, IITs and engineering colleges should do research keeping in mind the needs of the country. He also said that research in other fields is equally important. (With inputs from PTI)
