A unique theft incident came to light in Indore’s Pragati Park Colony on Sunday morning. Here three masked thieves entered the house of retired Justice Ramesh Garg. And in just 4 minutes and 10 seconds, they fled with cash and jewellery worth more than Rs 5 lakh. The CCTV footage of this theft is also going viral. In which it can be seen that even after the theft alarm rang, the retired Justice’s son kept sleeping. But this gold saved his life.

It can be seen in the CCTV footage that the miscreants enter inside by cutting the iron grill. From there, they directly break the lock of the cupboard. As soon as the lock is broken, the alarm rings. But the son Ritwik Garg, who was sleeping in the same room, did not even get a hint of this. It was also seen in the footage that during the theft, a thief was constantly standing near Ritwik with a stick. As if if he woke up, he would not delay in attacking.

Ritvik’s wife and children were also sleeping in the other room of the house at that time. The theft was done so quickly and cleanly, which made it clear that they had come fully prepared and were experts in this work.
According to rural DSP Umakant Chaudhary, theft has not only happened in Pragati Park Colony, but also in Pragati Vihar of Simrol and Khudail police station area. In another CCTV video, masked miscreants are seen committing theft with weapons. Police suspect that this is the work of an organized gang which is continuously committing theft in the city.
Questions raised on security
Police has registered a case and intensified the search for the accused. But incidents of theft at many places in a single night is being considered a big lapse in the security system. People of the area are scared and are demanding increased patrolling at night. At present, the police is focusing on identifying and arresting the gang. Whereas the local people want that quick and strict action should be taken in such cases so that the morale of the criminals is broken and the common people get assurance of safety.
