No deal, no ceasefire,… what happened between Trump and Putin in Alaska

On Friday, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin met for an important meeting in Alaska. This meeting lasted for more than two and a half hours. The whole country was watching this meeting. It was being said that in this meeting, there would be a talk of stopping the Ukraine war. Which can affect the security situation of Europe. Let us tell you that both the leaders are meeting for the first time since the year 2019. Both the presidents were accompanied by their team.
Before this high level meeting, Trump had said that he would try to stop the war immediately. Also, he will take a promise from Putin that he will soon meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. However, nothing like this has happened after this meeting. At present, no agreement has been reached. Also, Putin has invited Trump to come to Russia.
No deal, no ceasefire,… This is what happened between Trump-Putin in Alaska
Regarding this high level meeting, President Donald Trump said that some things have been agreed but there are still “big issues” left. He said, “Many points have been agreed upon but some points are still pending. One issue is the most important, but I will not tell it right now.” Along with this, he said that he will talk to European leaders and Zelensky. Trump also indicated that the next meeting of the two leaders could take place in Moscow.
Ceasefire did not happen
According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, before ending the war, the “main causes of conflict” will have to be resolved. He warned that Ukraine and Europe should not sabotage the talks. Putin told about his business relationship with Trump. He also said that if Trump had been the President in the year 2020, the war would probably not have started.
Putin invited Trump to come to Moscow
Finally, Putin invited Trump to meet him in Moscow next time. To which Trump laughingly said that it is “interesting” and “possible” too. But for this he will have to face a lot of criticism.
After this meeting, both the leaders gave joint statements. But did not answer the questions of the press. Putin called it the “beginning of an agreement”. But he also did not talk about the agreements related to this meeting.
There was no one-on-one conversation between Trump and Putin
Putin then paid tribute to the graves of those Soviet pilots in Alaska. Who were killed while flying aircraft under the training and lend-lease program during World War-II.
The talks which were earlier scheduled to be one-on-one. Later turned into a meeting of three leaders. Marco Rubio and Steve Witkoff participated from the American side. While Sergei Lavrov and Yuri Ushakov were present from the Russian side. This was considered a much more cautious step than the Helsinki meeting of 2018.
The war still going on between Ukraine and Russia
The strategic base of Alaska and this place located close to Russia make this meeting even more symbolic. On the other hand, Ukraine is still facing the brunt of heavy bombing and tough war on a 600-mile long front.
Let us tell you that Zelensky was not a part of this meeting. He said in a video message, “Everyone wants an honest end to the war. Ukraine is ready for this. But the war is dragging on because there is no indication from Moscow that it wants to end it.”
