Sugarcane crushing season to begin in November, minister directs mills to make 65% payment from their own resources

The sugarcane crushing season is set to begin in Uttarakhand in the first week of November this year. Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry Minister Saurabh Bahuguna has directed that sugar mills pay 65 percent of the sugarcane price to farmers from their own resources.

Minister Saurabh Bahuguna held a meeting with officials and mill management to review preparations for the crushing season. The minister said that mills should make 65 percent of the payments themselves so that farmers receive their payments on time.

Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry Minister Saurabh Bahuguna directed that all mills complete repair and maintenance work by October 31st to ensure no obstacles to the start of the crushing season.
