On October 25th, 35-year-old Srijan Sahu went missing under suspicious circumstances. A missing person report was filed at the police station the next day. During the investigation, the police found crucial evidence from CCTV footage near the Jalsha Hotel. The CCTV footage showed the brother-in-law leaving with his sister-in-law, Nidhi. He has not returned since. His last location was found in the forests of Mangwani, after which the sister-in-law was taken into custody by the police.

What was the motive behind the murder?

During interrogation, Nidhi confessed to the crime. She stated that she and Srujan had been in an illicit relationship for a year and a half. However, Srujan married his cousin. However, he still wanted to maintain contact with Nidhi. Six months ago, Nidhi also got married. Even then, Srujan threatened to make Nidhi’s old videos and photos viral.

Fed up with this, she decided to eliminate her brother-in-law. She learned the method of murder by watching videos and reels on social media. After which, Nidhi hired an acquaintance for 50,000 rupees.

How was the murder so sensational?

On October 25th, Nidhi invited Srujan for a ride. Srujan was driving the car, which also included Nidhi, Sahil, and a minor. As they reached the forest, Nidhi pulled out a knife from behind and stabbed Srujan in the neck. Sahil then stabbed him too, resulting in his brother-in-law’s death on the spot. The three men buried the body under rocks in the forest and fled. Police have jailed Nidhi Sahu and Sahil Patel, while the minor has been placed in a juvenile home.
