The patient load is continuously increasing at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh, Doon Medical College, and other hospitals. As a result, the demand for advanced medical facilities at AIIMS Rishikesh has been growing rapidly over the past few years. Considering this, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has written a letter to Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda. Through this letter, the Chief Minister has requested the establishment of a ‘Multi-Organ Transplantation Surgery Department’ at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the demand for advanced medical services at AIIMS Rishikesh has increased significantly in recent years, especially in the field of organ donation and multi-organ transplantation surgery. This has led to a continuous increase in the number of critically ill patients not only from the state but also from neighboring states. Furthermore, increased awareness about organ donation in the state has resulted in a significant rise in potential organ donor cases.

Despite this, patients requiring kidney, liver, pancreas, and heart transplants often have to travel to other states for treatment. This not only delays treatment but also causes significant financial difficulties for the patients. Chief Minister Dhami said that AIIMS Rishikesh has specialist doctors, necessary infrastructure, and technical capabilities. Therefore, the establishment of a Multi-Organ Transplantation Surgery Department would further enhance the capacity of this important institution.

This department would prove highly beneficial not only for Uttarakhand but also for the entire North India and the Himalayan region. The Chief Minister requested the Union Health Minister to grant the necessary approval for the establishment of the Multi-Organ Transplantation Surgery Department at AIIMS Rishikesh in the public interest and to direct the concerned officials to take action in this regard as soon as possible.
