According to the National Weather Forecasting Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD):

Significant Weather Features

♦  A Western Disturbance as a trough between 3.1 km & 7.6 km above mean sea level runs roughly along longitude 62°E to the north of latitude 32°N and a fresh Western Disturbance very likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from 06th April onwards. Under the influence of above systems:

i)  Scattered to widespread rainfall/snowfall very likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan & Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh during 05th-09th April and over Uttarakhand during 06th-09th April. Isolated rainfall over Punjab, Haryana and west Uttar Pradesh during 05th-07th April.

ii)  Isolated thunderstorm, lightning/gusty winds over Western Himalayan region during 05th-07th April and over adjoining plains during 06th-07th April.

iii)  Isolated hailstorm also likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan & Muzaffarabad on 6th; over Himachal Pradesh on 05th & 06th April and over Uttarakhand on 06th & 07th April.

iv)  isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan & Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh on 6th April; over Uttarakhand on 07th April.

v)  Duststorm/Thunderstorm and gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) likely at isolated places over West Rajasthan during 05th-07th April.

♦  Heat wave conditions very likely in isolated pockets over southwest Rajasthan during next 24 hours, over East Rajasthan during next 2 days, over Vidarbha during next 3 days and over Madhya Pradesh during 07th-09th April.

♦  Main Weather Observations

  • Rain/Thundershowers observed (from 0830 hours IST to 1730 hours IST of yesterday): at a few places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, ,Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Arunachal Pradesh and at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya, West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and Kerala & Mahe.
  • Rainfall recorded (from 0830 hours IST to 1730 hours IST of yesterday) (1 cm or more): Port Blair- 2.
  • Thunderstorm observed (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0530 hours IST of today): at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya, West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha and Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal.
  • Yesterday, HeatWaveConditionsobserved in a few pockets over southwest Rajasthan.
  • Maximum Temperature Departures as on 04-04-2021: Maximum temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at many places over West Rajasthan; at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Punjab and East Rajasthan;; at a few places over Assam & Meghalaya, Vidarbha and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim; at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal and Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, ; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Vidarbha; at a few places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Gujarat State, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Marathwada Coastal & South Interior Karnataka and Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam; at isolated places over Telangana and Rayalaseema and Konkan & Goa and North Interior Karnataka. They were below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at a few places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands; at isolated places over Madhya Maharashtra and near normal over rest parts of the country. Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 43.3°C was reported at Barmer (West Rajasthan) over the country.
  • Minimum Temperature Departures as on 04-04-2021: Minimum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over West Rajasthan, Saurashtra & Kutch and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Gujarat Region and Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam; at a few places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Marathwada and Rayalaseema. They were appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at many places over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi; at a few places over East Uttar Pradesh and East Madhya Pradesh; at isolated places over West Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at many places over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura; at a few places over Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh; at isolated places over Vidharbha and near normal over rest parts of the country. Yesterday, the lowest minimum temperature of 7.0°C was reported at Pantnagar (Uttrakhand) over the plains of the country.
  • The cyclonic circulation over north Andaman Sea & adjoining south Myanmar coast extending upto 3.1 km above mean sea level persists.
  • The cyclonic circulation over south Chhattisgarh & neighbourhood extending upto 2.1 km above mean sea level persists.
  • The cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand & adjoining Gangetic West Bengal at 0.9 km above mean sea level persists.
  • The cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan & neighbourhood extending upto 0.9 km above mean sea level persists.
  • The trough between 5.8 km & 7.6 km above mean sea level roughly along longitude 86°E to the north of latitude 22°N persists.
  • The Western Disturbance as a trough between 3.1 km & 7.6 km above mean sea level now runs roughly along longitude 62°E to the north of latitude 32°N.
  • The North-South trough at 0.9 km above mean sea level from North Interior Karnataka to interior Tamil Nadu persists.
  • A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from 06th April, 2021.

♦     The cyclonic circulation over north Andaman Sea & adjoining south Myanmar coast extending upto 3.1 km above mean sea level persists.

♦     The cyclonic circulation over south Chhattisgarh & neighbourhood extending upto 2.1 km above mean sea level persists.

♦     The cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand & adjoining Gangetic West Bengal at 0.9 km above mean sea level persists.

♦     The cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan & neighbourhood extending upto 0.9 km above mean sea level persists.

♦      The trough between 5.8 km & 7.6 km above mean sea level roughly along longitude 86°E to the north of latitude 22°N persists.

♦     The Western Disturbance as a trough between 3.1 km & 7.6 km above mean sea level now runs roughly along longitude 62°E to the north of latitude 32°N.

♦     The North-South trough at 0.9 km above mean sea level from North Interior Karnataka to interior Tamil Nadu persists.

♦       A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from 06th April, 2021.
