So far 73 patients have come to Uttar Pradesh of Mucor Mycosis i.e. Black Fungus. Two patients have died in Kanpur. Two patients in Mathura and one in Lucknow have lost their eyesight. The maximum number of patients has been reported from 20 patients in Varanasi. According to experts, black fungus grows more through moisture. Corona patients taking heavy steroids are at high risk. Amphotisin B injection given to patients is also not present in many districts. The Serum Institute has assured drug dealers to make injections available in UP by Monday.

No treatment guidelines yet
There are no guidelines for the treatment of black fungus from the state government. So far 2 patients have died in Kanpur in the state. Therefore, separate isolation wards have been made for these patients in other medical colleges of the state including Kanpur Medical College. 8 isolation beds have been built in Kanpur. It is being treated here under the supervision of a team of ophthalmologists, ENTs, chests and doctors of medicine.

Experts worry about black fungus, patients will be admitted in separate wards in hospitals
Increased cases of black fungus have raised the health department’s concern. The department has issued instructions to recruit Black Fungus patients in separate wards.
Director General of Health Department, Dr. DS Negi has alerted all the hospitals in the state. He said that black fungus patients should be identified on time. If symptoms are seen, refer them to Medical College or Level 3 Hospitals. Arrangements should be made to make separate wards in medical colleges. He said that the medical college has specialists from other departments including ENT, surgery. Therefore patients can get better treatment there. He has advised diabetes patients to be serious. Said diabetes patients pay attention to the management of sugar. Check back periodically.
