We have a bank of great actresses in the South : Raashi Khanna
Actress Raashi Khanna, who has originally worked in Tamil and Telugu films, feels that roles for actresses in the south are no longer limited to just being beautiful.
After making her acting debut in Sujit Sarkar’s 2013 Hindi film Madras Cafe, Rashi made her mark in Telugu films such as Tholi Prema, Venky Mama and World Famous Lover.
Raashi said, “It is still a male dominated industry, but I think women are taking the lead looking at the new kind of films to come.
When I started my career, I was very fortunate to start my career with Oohalu Gusagusalade, which was a Telugu film. It established me as an actor, but whatever I got after that was very commercial. Tholi Prema was a film that changed things for me, because people said I can act too
Rashi says, if you want to be in Telugu film industry for a long time, you have to be a good actor like Anushka Shetty or Samantha Akkineni. These are the women who are changing the way we look at actresses in the South. Earlier you just had to look beautiful and do well in songs. Now you have to be a good actor and I think we have a bank of great actresses in the south too.
The actress, who will soon be seen in Thank You opposite Naga Chaitanya, adds, “Everything is changing, everyone is going pen India and everyone is going to different languages.
