Heroin courier parcel worth Rs 7.5 crore seized at Indira Gandhi International Airport
A courier parcel bound for Delhi-NCR from an African address has been seized at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). In that parcel, 1.20 kg heroin worth Rs 7.5 crore has been recovered hidden in Bengal and a folder. Based on an intelligence report, a team from Customs (Preventive) Delhi, under the Union Finance Ministry, seized the illegal consignment at a new courier terminal at IGIA, the agency said.
The consignment came from an African address in Delhi-NCR and was to be sent to the destination address, Customs said in a statement.
On investigation, the agency said, the recovered consignment of heroin was concealed in a very sophisticated manner in Bengal and in a folder.
“We recovered 1.20 kg heroin worth Rs 7.5 crore from a courier at IGI airport on July 2,” a statement said. The investigation is on and follow up is on.
