Rajasthan : Complete development projects in urban areas on time – Gehlot
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has said that projects related to infrastructure development, beautification, drainage and sewerage works in urban areas should be completed on time so that the residents of the city can get rid of the problem of water logging and traffic jams.
Shri Gehlot was reviewing various development works proposed in Jodhpur city for the second consecutive day through video conference from the Chief Minister’s residence. He directed the officers that according to the need of the local people and the suggestions of the public representatives, these works should be completed in a planned manner. He took detailed information about these works and gave necessary directions to the officers. The Chief Minister said that the Public Works Department should give priority to the reconstruction of non-perchable and bad roads across the state.
The Chief Minister said that the residents of the city would get rid of the problem of water logging due to drainage and sewerage works. He directed the officials to send the detailed work plan of the drainage and sewerage project along with the map. He said that the Surpura dam project has great potential to attract tourists. If water sports, restaurants and other facilities are developed here, more and more people will come here.
In the meeting, the officials informed that DPR of about Rs 225 crore drainage project is being prepared to solve the problem of water logging in Jodhpur city. In this, apart from covering the Saran Nagar drain up to a length of eight kilometres, Bhairav Nala will be constructed from Shobhawat ki Dhani to Jojri river via Pal Gaon, Tavanada, Ghinana ki Dhani and Salawas road. With the formation of a drain, the problem of water logging in East Pal Yojna and labor colony will be solved. The DPR of the project is being prepared by the Jodhpur Development Authority.
It was informed in the meeting that various works would be done under the sewerage project worth about Rs 309 crore. In this, work will be done to repair and replace old and dilapidated sewer lines in about 60 km area of the Municipal Corporation North and South. Along with this, new sewer lines will be laid in about 250 km area of Jodhpur Development Authority and Municipal Corporation North and South. About 40 thousand houses will be connected with sewer connection. The DPR of the project is being prepared, which will be sent to RUIDP.
It was informed in the meeting that the problem of water logging in areas like Phulbagh, Chaturavata Bera, Surpura etc. would be solved with the construction work of Balsamand-Nagadari overflow drain at a cost of about Rs 37.5 crore. Its DPR is being prepared by Municipal Corporation (North).
Officials said that in the first phase of AMRUT scheme, works like path-way, open gym, green space equipment and swing etc. have been done in Surpura Dam Amusement Park at a cost of about Rs. 2 crore 7 lakh. In the second phase, the works of food court, activity area, jogging-track etc. are proposed. The estimated cost of which is Rs 20 crore. DPR has been prepared by the Municipal Corporation, Jodhpur (North) for the beautification and rejuvenation of Ganglaw pond. The work of garden, walk-way, open air gym, fountain and parking is proposed here. Shri Gehlot said that intensive plantation should be done in this project and care should be taken that water hyacinth does not grow in the water.
It was informed in the meeting that four lane road construction work is proposed for 8.3 km from Mata Ke Than to Anganwa, which will be done by the Public Works Department. With the construction of this road, Nagaur Road and Jaipur Road will be connected and the traffic pressure in the city will also be reduced. Shri Gehlot said that various facilities including lighting should be developed along this road.
