I don’t think my performance has declined: Chahal

Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has said that he does not feel that his performance has declined and is focusing on giving his best performance in the limited overs series against Sri Lanka. Chahal was ranked from Grade B to Grade C in the Indian Cricket Board’s annual contract list. But the leg-spinner says that he is not thinking much about it.
Chahal was India’s main spinner in the 2019 World Cup squad but today he is unable to cement his place in the team.
Chahal told Cricinfo, I don’t think my performance has declined. You may not perform in all matches. I try to give my best. This series against Sri Lanka is important for me.
He said, I discuss with the bowling coach. Management gives us morale and that’s why I am here in Sri Lanka. If it weren’t for that, nobody in the team would be here. Right now my main focus is just on this series. Not much cricket happened last year but it is not in our hands.
The leg-spinner said, whatever the series, we just have to perform. After this series, my focus will be on IPL and then on T20 World Cup. Right now I am concentrating on this series.
Chahal said that Rahul Dravid, who came as coach for this tour, has faith in his ability and wants Dravid to guide the young players.
Chahal said, I will play in the ODI series after a long time but we have already played here. We have played two practice matches and we are used to playing in hot environments.
