Sindhu is overwhelmed by Ronaldo’s achievements in football

Veteran badminton star PV Sindhu is one of India’s medal hopefuls in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. Despite her busy schedule, she tries to take out time to watch her favorite athletes play in various sports. One of them is Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo, who recently won the Golden Boot at Euro 2020 by scoring five goals and collaborating on one goal.
He is one of football’s greatest stars. Most recently he was awarded the Capocanonire award in Serie A for scoring 29 goals. The title was awarded to the highest goalscorer in the Italian domestic league. Sindhu has no words to praise the achievements of the 36-year-old footballer.
“I have no words to praise him, the way he plays, the skill and technique he has, the amazing skills he has,” he told Olympics.com before flying to Tokyo.

Sindhu also likes to watch tennis at leisure and tries not to miss watching Serena Williams and Roger Federer if they are playing. Both the tennis legends have dominated the court for over a decade and Sindhu wants to emulate their tenacity and truthfulness.

He said, Serena believes that she can do this despite being a woman and a mother. He has performed exceptionally well. She is a strong woman. Whereas, Federer is another legend. At his age it is not easy to maintain that level so far. He has been on top there.

Sindhu will start her Olympic campaign against Polikarpova Ksenia of Israel on July 25 at Court 2 of Musashino Forest Sport Plaza BDM. She has been in excellent form in 2021 and has reached the final and semi-finals at the Swiss Open and All England Open respectively. Because the Malaysian Open and Singapore Open were cancelled, he has not participated in a tournament since March. However, the Rio 2016 Olympic silver medalist is confident that this will not hamper her chances at the grand event to be held in four years.

He revealed, “I understand a lot of people are saying that we got too few matches to play. But, I don’t think so, because we have created a match-playing scenario and situation. Gachibowli Stadium is almost the same as the stadium in Japan. It’s big enough, air conditioning, shuttle controls and all. Boys from Suchitra Academy come to us to play matches for practice. We create situations like tae tzu-ying or ratchanok (Intanon) play. Coach and Dad are there to tell me what mistake I am doing.

2021 has been a difficult time for Sindhu’s ideals. Ronaldo crashed out in the round of 16 at Euro 2020, Federer in the charter final of Wimbledon, while Williams crashed out in the first round after suffering an injury in the match against Aleksandra Sasnovi. But, Sindhu will face tough times in Tokyo 2020. She had to settle for a silver medal in Rio and now five years later without facing Carolina Marin she is aiming for nothing less than gold.
