Initial volatility continues in the stock market
Domestic stock markets witnessed volatility in early trade on Monday amid negative cues from Asian markets. BSE’s 30-share sensitive index Sensex opened with a strength of 9.46 points at 52,985.26, but fell by about 200 points to 52,783.63 points as soon as it opened. After this, it climbed up to 53,045.81 points while recovering. At the time of writing the news, the Sensex was up 54.15 points, or 0.10 per cent, at 53,029.95.
Selling in banking and financial sector companies put pressure on the market, while companies in IT, tech and FMCG sectors rose. The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange had lost 6.75 points to 15,849.30 and at one point to 15,797 points. It went up to 15,877.15 points. At the time of writing, it was up 12.55 points, or 0.08 per cent, at 15,868.60.
