Prithvi and Suryakumar selected as replacements for Shubman and Sundar

Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav, who looked good with the bat during the ongoing Sri Lanka tour, have been picked as replacements for Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar for the upcoming Test series against England from August 4. All India Senior Selection Committee has approved the names of Prithvi and Suryakumar Yadav. In such a situation, Prithvi and Suryakumar are expected to miss the last two matches of the ongoing T20 series against Sri Lanka.

According to the latest update released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday, all-rounder Washington Sundar has got a vaccine on the finger of his right hand, which he bowls with. His recovery will take longer than expected and he is currently out of the England tour as he is not fit to bowl.

In the MRI scan, opener Shubman Gill’s left leg has confirmed a strain in the calf. His injury was serious during the World Test Championship (WTC) final. In view of this, Shubman is out of the tour and has returned to India. Apart from this, fast bowler Avesh Khan injured his left thumb on the first day of the practice match against India for County XI, after which he was taken for X-ray, which confirmed the fracture. He has been ruled out of India’s tour of England as a specialist has been consulted for further management of his injury.

Meanwhile, the good thing is that wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has fully recovered from corona with two negative corona tests. He has started his preparations for the upcoming England Test series after getting clearance from the BCCI medical team. Bowling coaches B Arun, Wriddhiman Saha and Abhimanyu Easwaran have also completed self-isolation in London and have now joined the Indian team in Durham.
