Manipur : Mirabai to be appointed as Additional Superintendent of Police (Sports)

Women lifter Mirabai Chanu, who created history by winning a silver medal at Tokyo Olympics, will be appointed as Additional Superintendent of Police (Sports) in the police department in her state Manipur. Chief Minister N Biren Singh made this announcement. He made this announcement while inspecting the construction of COVID Hospital by DRDO at Kyamgei and the ongoing installation of Cryogenic Oxygen Plant at Porompat.

Talking to media persons, the Chief Minister also said that his government would give one crore rupees to Mirabai as announced earlier. He also said that Olympian Judoka Sushila Devi would be promoted from constable to sub-inspector. He reiterated that Rs.25 lakh each would be given to all the contestants participating in the Olympics from the state. The Chief Minister also announced that the state government has also taken a decision to set up a world class weightlifting academy in the state.
