Maharashtra : When Uddhav Thackeray and Devendra Fadnavis came together at the same place, at the same time

Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis met each other in Kolhapur City on Friday morning during their visit to the flood-hit areas of Kolhapur district. The CM and the Leader of the Opposition talked for some time about the impact of floods and relief-rehabilitation work. The CM of Maharashtra said, ‘I know that they are here, in such a situation I said that wait, I am also coming there. We are working to help the people and there should be no politics in this. There are three parties in the government and he represents the fourth party. Will also hold a meeting in Mumbai on this issue. I have told him that we will invite him for this meeting.
Fadnavis also told reporters later that he held talks with CM Thackeray about a long-term plan for flood relief. He said, ‘I discussed the situation with the CM. He said that we have to think about a long term plan. We also talked about speedy help to the people in the area. The CM was accompanied by Minister and Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte while Fadnavis was accompanied by BJP leaders and Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council Pravin Darekar. CM visited the places affected by landslides and floods of Konkan region. The Leader of the Opposition also reached these places, although the timing of their visits was different. Significantly, the relationship between Uddhav Thackeray and Fadnavis has soured after Shiv Sena formed the government in Maharashtra with NCP and Congress. Shiv Sena was earlier an ally of BJP in Maharashtra and Central Government.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on this occasion urged the leaders not to visit the flood affected places again and again as it affects the relief work. Responding to the BJP’s demand for a relief package, the CM said, ‘I am not the package chief minister. I have come here to help people and will ensure that it happens. Along with this, he said that as soon as the survey of the damage caused by floods and rains is completed, the state government will announce a relief package at the earliest.
