First plane landed at airport after US evacuation in Kabul

A United Arab Emirates (UAE) plane loaded with food has landed at Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport, making it the first flight to reach the Afghan capital since its return to the US on August 31. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said a giant UAE plane carrying 60 tonnes of food landed at Kabul airport today.

Mujahid said, the arrival of the food aid provided by the UAE is good news for Afghans. We are grateful to the UAE for its support to the Afghans.
He said, the Islamic Emirate urges all countries to continue to extend their support to Afghanistan.

The airport has been closed for international and domestic flights since the Taliban captured Kabul on August 15.
Taliban forces took control of the airport on 31 August after US-led evacuation flights ended.

Mujahid said that technical teams and experts from Turkey, UAE and Qatar have already arrived and are working to help the Afghan side to get the airport operational and international and domestic flights to resume soon. Will be
