INS Ranvir blast, 3 Marines killed, 11 injured continue to be treated, inquiry ordered

Three sailors were killed in an accident at the Mumbai Naval Dockyard on Tuesday. It is being told that there has been an explosion in the interior of INS Ranvir, in which three sailors lost their lives. However, rescue work was started soon after this incident. The crew members of the ship immediately tried to bring the situation under control. There was not much damage to the ship. The incident came to light at 4.30 pm. 11 sailors have also been injured in this incident. Their treatment is going on. A senior military official said the identities of the casualties would be made public after briefing the families of the victims. Earlier in August 2013, there was a major accident at Mumbai port. Then 18 sailors lost their lives in the blast on INS Sindhurakshak and the submarine was heavily damaged.
According to reports, INS Ranvir in the Eastern Naval Command was on operational deployment in the coastal area since November 2021 and was to return to the coast shortly after, when the explosion took place. A Board of Inquiry has been ordered in this matter. There is no news of much damage to the ship. However, the reasons for the incident are yet to be ascertained. It is not yet known whether some other Navy personnel were also injured in the incident.
Earlier in June 2016, there was a major accident in the naval aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya, in which two sailors were killed. Refitting work was going on Vikramaditya at Karwar Naval Base near Goa, when the accident happened. The accident happened due to leakage of toxic gas at the STP sewage plant. Two have died in this accident and four were saved.
In April 2016, a serious accident took place when a bottle burst inside the helmet of the Navy’s diving ship INS Inspector. Three sailors were injured in the accident. While a seriously injured sailor had to amputate a part of his leg. In January 2016, the Navy’s fast interceptor boat was caught in the sea due to fire. There were six sailors in the boat when the accident happened but all were saved.
