The election campaign ended, this assembly seat in Uttarakhand became the question of the nose of the parties

The campaigning for Uttarakhand elections has ended. Tomorrow is voting day. In 70 seats, the public is going to decide the fate of 70 candidates. Every seat has a different fight, exciting equations and big faces. With the entry of the Aam Aadmi Party in the electoral fray, a triangular contest is also being seen in many seats. The party has also put up a CM candidate in such a way that whose vote bank decides the margin of victory and defeat many times in the hill state. In such a situation, it would not be wrong to say that this time in Uttarakhand elections, there is a great competition in many seats. Let’s take a look at all those exciting seats-
Lalkuan assembly seat
This time the strongest contest is being seen in Lalkua seat of Nainital district. On one hand, former CM Harish Rawat, the biggest face of Congress is standing in the field, while BJP district panchayat member Mohan Bisht is giving him a tough fight. This time an independent has also changed the electoral equations from here. Congress’s old constable Sandhya Dalakoti is contesting as an independent from Lalkua seat. Earlier, Congress had made him its candidate from this seat. But then when questions started arising on Harish Rawat’s candidature for Ramnagar seat, he was shifted to Lalkua seat within 24 hours, so Sandhya Dalakoti’s leaf was cut. Now Sandhya has entered the independent field to seek the blessings of the people.
By the way, the Mohan Bisht on whom BJP has placed its bet from this seat, electoral pundits are also considering it as a strong strategy. Actually Mohan Bisht is the local leader for Lalkua seat. He is also a Panchayat member from the same district, so his connection with the ground realities remains and his contact with the people is also strong. On the other hand, Sandhya Dalakoti, who is contesting as an independent after getting angry with the Congress, is making mother power a big issue. They are linking their humiliation with the humiliation of women. It is also important to know here that not only the Congress is facing the rebel in this seat, but the BJP is also facing it. Due to not getting the ticket, Pawan Chauhan has landed in the independent field. They are assuming that the urban voters here are standing with them.
But despite being an ‘outsider’ in the midst of all these equations, Harish Rawat has campaigned vigorously on behalf of the Congress. This time he is throwing such power on this seat that why his whole day is not spent in any area, but the night comes out in his Lalkuna only. They want to remove this seat this time in any case. Even on the external charge of the opposition, they are saying only Atithi Devo Bhava.
Talking about the social equations of Lalkuan assembly seat, there is a majority of voters of Brahmin and Rajput fraternity in this assembly constituency. Other Backward Classes and Scheduled Castes voters also play a decisive role in determining the election result of Lalkuan assembly seat.
Gangotri assembly seat
Whenever the mythological aspect is raised in the politics of Uttarakhand, the Gangotri assembly seat comes first in the mind. Gangotri seat of Uttarkashi district is quite interesting. The competition here is always tough, apart from this there is also a myth that whoever wins the election from here is sure to form his government. This is the trend that has been going on for 60 years, not today. For this reason, this time a triangular contest is being seen in Gangotri seat. The first thing that will come here is Aam Aadmi Party’s CM candidate Colonel Ajay Kothiyal because contesting his election has put both the Congress and the BJP in worry. He is definitely contesting elections for the first time, but his army background makes him popular among ‘Fauji Voters’. At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party is claiming that Kothiyal has done a lot of work for the youth through his institution, such a class can also go with him.
Talking about BJP, this time the party has put bets on a new face. Suresh Chauhan has been fielded from this seat on his behalf. The BJP has expressed its trust in Suresh Chauhan after the death of outgoing MLA Gopal Rawat. The special thing is that this time, retired Colonel Vijay Rawat, brother of late CDS Bipin Rawat himself, is campaigning for the BJP candidate on this seat. They have entered the fray to counter the popularity of Colonel Ajay Kothiyal.
Congress has expressed its trust in Vijaypal Sajwan for the fifth time from Gangotri seat. Earlier in 2002 and 2012, when he won from here, the Congress government was also formed in Uttarakhand. In such a situation, once the party has put this veteran in the electoral fray.
Chaubattakhal assembly seat
Chaubattakhal, a rural seat in Pauri Garhwal district, has always been a BJP stronghold. Out of the four elections held between 2002 and 2017, the BJP candidate has won here three times. Once an independent has also won the election but the account of Congress has not been opened. This time BJP has made veteran leader and minister in the state government Satpal Maharaj its candidate from Chaubattakhal seat. He had also won from here in the 2017 assembly elections. This time the Congress has fielded its state vice president Kesar Singh Negi to give him a fight, while on the other hand, the Aam Aadmi Party has also expressed its trust in the youth wing’s state president Digmohan Negi.
Talking about the social equations of Chaubattakhal assembly seat, there is a majority of Rajput and Brahmin voters in this assembly constituency. OBC voters also play a decisive role in determining the election result of Chaubattakhal assembly seat. Apart from these equations, the margin of victory in Chaubattakhal seat has not always been huge. This is such a seat where many candidates stand, due to which the margin of victory remains small. In the upcoming elections also 9 candidates are trying their luck from here, in the 2017 election 17 candidates were in the fray, while in 2012 9 candidates stood.
Khatima assembly seat
Khatima is considered to be the most high profile seat of Uttarakhand. This seat falling in Udham Singh Nagar district is going to be in everyone’s eyes this time. From here itself, CM and BJP candidate Pushkar Singh Dhami is in the electoral fray. Have been MLA from here twice before, so trying to score a hat-trick. This time he also has a challenge to break the myth where it is said that no sitting CM is able to save his chair. But this time Pushkar Singh Dhami is confident that he will save his seat. They have full confidence in their development work.
But Congress candidate Bhuvan Kapri, who was defeated by Dhami in the 2017 elections by a margin of votes, is working to challenge his dream. In such a situation, they are considering their position strong this time in Khatima. He also believes that during the Corona period, he has served many people by going to the ground. Apart from this, in the eyes of Congress, the political equation here is going to go against Dhami this time. The party is assuming that the Muslim and Sikh community of Khatima is very angry with the BJP, so Dhami will have to face the consequences.
Talking about the ethnic equation of Khatima, in this assembly constituency, along with the Rana-Tharu families, who are considered descendants of Maharana Pratap, hill people from Pithoragarh, Munsiyari, Lohaghat, Champawat areas also reside. There is also a good number of Sikh families and Muslims who came during the partition of the country.
Haridwar Rural Assembly seat
Haridwar Rural Assembly of Haridwar district is going to see a close contest this time. From here, Anupama Rawat, daughter of former CM Harish Rawat, is hitting the beat. Her biggest challenge is that she wants to avenge her father’s defeat in 2017. He is confident that this time the people here will repose their faith in his claims. But on the other hand, BJP has made minister Yatheeswaranand its candidate for the third time in the state government from Haridwar Rural Assembly seat. In 2017, he defeated Harish Rawat with a big margin. This time, like Pushkar Singh Dhami, he is also trying to score a hat-trick of victory. By the way, BSP has made Yunus Ansari its candidate from this seat. How paved the way for his victory is, it will be known on March 10, but political experts believe that due to his arrival, the division of Muslim votes is possible. In such a situation, the contest on this seat can become triangular.
Talking about the caste equation of Haridwar Rural Assembly seat, the voters of Dalit and Other Backward Classes also play a decisive role in this assembly constituency. There are also a good number of Muslim voters in this assembly constituency.
Bajpur assembly seat
Bajpur seat of Udham Singh Nagar district is considered to be an important stronghold of Uttarakhand politics. This time a very interesting contest is going to be seen on this seat. This seat has become even more special for the Congress because from here they have fielded their biggest Dalit face Yashpal Arya. Yashpal Arya, who was gracing the BJP in the 2017 elections, made his homecoming just before the upcoming elections and the party also made him a candidate from the same seat from where he had won in 2017 on a BJP ticket. In such a situation, Yashpal Arya from Bajpur is trying to win the election for the third time.
But many opponents have also stood in his way. BJP has made Rajesh Kumar its candidate from here, who is assuming that this time the public will completely reject the defectors. On the other hand, Aam Aadmi Party has also fielded a strong candidate from here. Sunita Tamta Bajwa, who was earlier hoping for a seat from the Congress party, is now contesting from Bajpur on AAP ticket. She is the wife of Jagtar Singh Bajwa, who was active in the farmers’ movement. According to him, he is going to compete with BJP on this seat. By the way, Samajwadi Party has also given ticket to Dhanraj Bharti from this seat. Vijaypal Jatav has been given a chance on behalf of BSP. Electoral pundits are of the view that there may be a division of minority votes between the AAP and the Congress. If this were the case, some of its benefits may have gone to the BJP.
In terms of caste equation, Bajpur has the largest population of Sikh voters. After this there are people of Buxa tribe community. There are about 25 percent SC, 9 percent Buxa, about 10 percent Sikh, 8 percent Brahmin, 2 percent Rajput, 22 percent Muslim, about 8 percent OBC, 5 percent Punjabi, 5 percent Thakur.
