Telangana : The Congress leader had expressed his protest against KCR – the leader was arrested on charges of stealing donkey

A Congress leader has been arrested for stealing a donkey in Karimnagar, Telangana. Police confirmed this on Friday. Interestingly, the leader has been accused of stealing the same donkey which he used in a small anti-KCR protest recently.

According to reports, Telangana NSUI President Venkata Balamoor protested with a donkey on the birthday of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, after which he was taken into police custody. A complaint was lodged against the Congress leader at Jammikunta police station in Karimnagar on Friday. Six other people have also been named in the complaint but they are absconding.

According to the police, Jammikunta resident Tanguturi Rajkumar has filed a complaint against seven people alleging theft of their donkeys. They were booked for abetment to unlawful assembly, rioting, theft and showing cruelty to animals. The FIR was registered under sections 143, 153, 504, 379 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with 149, section 67 of the IT Act and section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. Venkata Balamoor was arrested after protests at Satavahana University in Karimnagar. He and the other accused were protesting the lack of government jobs in the state and had put KCR’s picture on the donkey. Congress leaders have called this arrest wrong.
