The hurdle in the last phase of the Dream Project Ring Road has also been cleared. The Union Environment Ministry has approved the state’s longest bridge to be built on the Ganga. IRCON International Limited, an undertaking of the Ministry of Railways, has been selected for the construction of a 15 km 300 meter long four lane in the first phase of the Ring Road. The construction will start from April and will be completed in about two years. To travel from Roorkee to Bijnor, one has to travel via Haridwar. This increases the pressure of vehicles in Haridwar. The Chandi bridge gets jammed all the time during the festival baths. To overcome the problem of jam, the National Highways Authority of India has made a far-reaching plan for the construction of Ring Road.

The process of construction will start from April as soon as the contract is signed

The Ring Road is to be prepared in two phases. The first phase of Ring Road will start from Bahadarabad bypass and will end at Anjani Chowki NH 74 of Shyampur police station area. With this, vehicles of Haridwar-Delhi highway will be able to move directly to Najibabad-Haridwar highway.

According to Pradeep Gusain, Project Manager, NHAI, IRCON International Limited, an undertaking of the Ministry of Railways, has been selected for the construction of the first phase of the Ring Road. Its cost will be 1100 crores. However, earlier its estimated cost was 1566 crores. As soon as the contract is signed with the agency, the process of construction will start from April.

NHAI engineer Kapil Joshi said that a 3.5 km long bridge (including approach) will be built on the Ganga. The bridge has been named Major Bridge. Leaving the approach, the length of the bridge will be 2.561 km. This bridge will be the longest vehicular movement in Uttarakhand.

Apart from the repair shops of vehicles, fast food corners will open

Kapil Joshi told that the bridge and ring road will be 45 meters wide. Service road will be built on both sides on the four lanes. There is also a plan to build a shopping center at various places on the service road. Apart from auto repair shops, fast food corners will open. These will be constructed and allocated by NHAI. Ring road will pass through many villages. For this the process of land acquisition of farmers has been completed. 120 crore compensation has also been distributed to forty percent of the farmers.

The construction of Ring Road in Haridwar will start from April. Ring road will be built in two phases. In the first phase, a tender has been awarded to IRCON International Limited, an undertaking of the Ministry of Railways, for the construction of 15 km 300 meters.
