6 people arrested in Bajrang Dal worker’s murder case in Karnataka, all have criminal record: Police

Police have arrested six people in connection with the murder of a Bajrang Dal worker in Shivamogga, Karnataka. Incidents of arson and violence were reported after this murder. According to the police, all the six people arrested in the case have a criminal record. More than 12 people were taken into custody for questioning. It is worth noting that earlier, a minister of the state government has said that the matter is being investigated from all angles including the hijab controversy. There were incidents of arson and violence when Harsh’s body was being taken for the last rites. Cars were set on fire and stone pelted, in which three people, including a photojournalist, were injured. Several two-wheelers were either heavily damaged or burnt. The police had to use tear gas shells and sticks to control the crowd. Schools and colleges have been closed as a precaution and the gathering of people has also been banned. Meanwhile, the Karnataka government, which has come under the scanner for allowing last rites in an atmosphere of violence, has shied away from this decision. The state Home Minister appealed to the people to maintain peace and said, “Seeing that many people were leaving, the body was taken for the last rites.” It was the decision of the local administration.
